  • The successful defense of an $11,000,000 claim by Bechtal for change orders in building an offshore drilling rig.
  • The recovery of a $5.7 million claim for the City of San Jose for its investment in a defectively built apartment complex. The City of San Jose received $5.25 million after payment of attorneys' fees and expenses.
  • The successful defense of a $9 million claim by an investor with a major broker-dealer (and many more claims involving smaller sums of money).
  • The successful defense of a claim in the tens of millions of dollars for tortious interference with an exclusive agency agreement to market all of China's paraffin wax.

He has successfully handled numerous multi-million dollar cases for clients from the North Sea to the Gulf of Mexico, several of which have gone to the Supreme Court. We have handled these cases successfully and cost-effectively from beginning to end for more than twenty years.

Firm Success

  • Barbouti v. Hearst Corp., 927 S.W.2d 37 (Tex. App. - Houston [1st Dist.] 1996, writ denied)(en banc). An article alleging that the plaintiff had been investigated by the Defense Intelligence Agency for exporting dual purpose technology to the Middle East was held to be substantially true, when in fact he had been investigated by a grand jury and had lost a civil trial.
